Read guide ↓When you import a raster image (PNG, JPG, HEIC), StixCut uses Apple's Vision framework to automatically trace a cut path around the subject. The result appears as a magenta outline on the canvas — no action required.
If the trace is too tight or too loose, select the sticker and adjust the Cut Margin in the Inspector. Positive values push the cut path outward; negative values pull it inward. Default is 1.5 mm.
To use a hand-drawn or Illustrator/Affinity-exported cutline, import the SVG file into the Library. In the Inspector, set the cut layer kind to SVG. The path is read from the file directly rather than auto-traced.
You can also import an SVG onto the canvas and align it manually against existing artwork, then use it as the cut layer for a separate image placement.
Click the cut path overlay on the canvas to enter node editing mode. Drag nodes to move them, or drag the Bezier control arms to adjust the curve. Click away to exit. Edited paths survive session saves and undo/redo.
Toggle per-sticker in the Inspector, or set the sheet default in Sheet Settings (select nothing to see it).
When perf-cut is enabled, you can add a peel tab — a small notch cut into the backing that makes the sticker easy to pop off.
The PixCut S1 has a 2 mm safety zone on the left and right edges — the blade can't reach there. StixCut shows these as guide lines on the canvas. The cut path is clipped to the printable area before sending to the printer.
Auto-Pack uses a maximal-rectangles algorithm to fit all library stickers as efficiently as possible. Click Auto-Pack in the toolbar to pack the current sheet. Use Shuffle Pack to fill with a random selection from your library. Click Auto-Pack again to cycle through remaining stickers until everything has been printed.
| Setting | Default | What it controls |
|---|---|---|
| Sticker Gap | 2 mm | Minimum space between stickers. |
| Left Margin | 2 mm | Distance from the left edge (matches cut safety zone). |
| Max Sticker Size | 45 mm | Stickers larger than this are excluded — resize them first. |
| Allow Rotation | On | Lets auto-pack rotate stickers 90° to fit more. |
Set in Settings › Cut. Pressure is a 1-100 scale; higher drives the blade deeper.
| Mode | Default | Typical range |
|---|---|---|
| Kiss-cut | 42 | 30-55 for most vinyl sticker paper |
| Perf-cut | 53 | 45-65; perf-cut needs more force |
Offsets the cut path outward from the traced image edge. Positive = bleed; negative = tucks inside.
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Cut margin | 1.5 mm | -5 mm to +5 mm |
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Dash length | 8 mm |
| Dash spacing | 0.05 mm |
Longer dashes tear more cleanly. Shorter dashes produce a finer perforation.
The built-in Oracal 651 profile works well for most glossy vinyl. Create custom profiles in Settings › General under Custom Media Types — each stores its own dimensions, cut support flag, and name.
